When you are an entrepreneur (or an independent publisher) you need a ritual. A consistent, repeated action that helps you with focus, and productivity. For me that’s a morning cappuccino (medium, nonfat, dry) from the nearby spots by my house. There are many I frequent over the course of the month: Starbucks, Tenn Street, Radiator, Convivio. I read in, collect my thoughts, drink my drink and am ready for the day.

For just about $5 I get the shot in the arm I need to kick off whatever needs to be done.  Now I’m asking you, for the cost of a cup of coffee, to help give a boost to community journalism.  For the rest of November, we are trying to get as many contributors as possible to give $5 to Bucket List to help sustain local news in our community.

Of course, you can give more (recurring monthly contributions are especially appreciated), but if we can get the most individual contributors, we have a chance to earn an additional $2500 from Colorado Media Project. Five dollars may not seem like it will make much of a difference but if enough of us join together and say community news matters as much to us as a cup of coffee, imagine what we can accomplish. We can help make Bucket List sustainable so we can continue to serve you with free, hyperlocal neighborly news and mentor the next generation of journalists.

Another ritual of mine is showing gratitude so as we lean into Thanksgiving, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who read our work, subscribe to our emails, watch our videos and listen to our radio program on KGNU, and especially to those of you who have helped us raise over $6100 of our $15,000 goal during the #newsCOneeds campaign. A special thanks to the Lenfest Foundation which is matching everything you contribute up to $10,000. That’s a lot of coffee!

So happy Thanksgiving, Bucket Listers. All of us hope that your plates and hearts are full with the blessings of family, friends and community. During this season of holiday giving, along with your favorite causes, please consider supporting community news like Bucket List Community Cafe that informs you, connects you to your neighbors and builds community.

Warmest Regards,
