As we come to the end of the year and our #newsCOneeds fundraising campaign, I want to share the things we accomplished together in 2025. With your support Bucket List Community Cafe has grown our audience and impact. This is happening because we offer something no one else does in the Denver area, free hyperlocal neighborly news powered by students and recent graduates from CU Boulder, MSU Denver, DU and DPS. Our aspiring journalists and journalism entrepreneurs serve the community with solution-oriented news, and in turn we mentor the next generation of journalists. You make all this possible with your generosity.
Watch this video. Here are just some of the things you helped us do in 2025:
- Produce 250+ stories
- Mentor 30 students and recent graduates this year alone. Since we started, we’ve worked with 90 students from three universities and Denver high schools..
- Earn 13 awards and participate in 13 events
- Produce a monthly radio show on KGNU
- Expand to three newsletters a week
- Stat: 2100 subscribers for our weekly newsletters
- Produce weekly video content
- Stat: 110,000 views for our website. Up 39% since 2024.
- Stat: 215,000 Facebook views this year. 55,000 Instagram views from June through December.
- Raise over $70,000 to support community journalism
None of these accomplishments would have been possible without you. We believe that community journalism takes a community and we do this in collaboration with our neighbors in the Denver metro area. Bucket List Community Cafe listens to you and makes sure all of you feel seen and heard. Our goal is to make everyone feel connected, not divided. For this to work and make a difference it has to be a partnership with you.
