Hi Bucket Listers, As we kick off our #newsCOneeds fundraising campaign today, I want to share a note I recently received from one of our former Bucket List team members, Helena Fox Mills, who graduated from CU Boulder in May 2025.

Hi Vicky, I wanted to update you on my job situation. I’ve been working in Dublin, Ireland the past month as sort of a fill-in/part-time panel worker for RTE’s TV transmissions, but I just got hired full-time today!  The responsibility is to ensure everything on air is running how it’s supposed to. So, we preview everything going on air, count the live events in and out, fix the broadcast if it goes down, things like that. It’s been really fun so far! I want to give a big thank you to you guys because my time at Bucket List was so valuable to my learning and growth, and I couldn’t have done this without it!! Thanks again, Helena

Good news like this is because of you. Without your generous contributions, we could not mentor the next generation of journalists like Helena, who cover the stories that matter in the Denver area.  And we have many success stories just like her!

Today we kick off our year end fundraiser to help us keep doing this work. Our goal is to raise $15,000 by the end of 2025. It’s a heavy lift for a small publication like Bucket List Community Cafe, but we know you will get us over the top.

Starting an independent local news publication like Bucket List Community Cafe that informs and creates connection is easy, but sustaining it is very difficult. You’ve helped us keep going for six years and we’re still serving you today! We need your help again!

Almost every dollar you give is being doubled with generous matching grants. There’s a $1000 matching grant from Colorado Media Project and a $10,000 match from the Lenfest Institute. Plus we can unlock a $2500 prize for the most unique donors, regardless of dollar amount during our November Rally.

So let’s start big! Our dog correspondent, Daphne, is kicking off the giving with a $50 contribution from the cookie jar. She is challenging all our pet loving neighbors to match her $50 (or give anything you can) so we start strong and win the $2500 prize.

This year’s campaign is through Colorado Gives, and it runs from 11/1-12/31 so if you’re ready to support community journalism and students and recent graduates like Helena who bring you independent local news, please contribute today.

Any amount you give helps us keep doing this important work, and if you set up a monthly recurring gift, you go even further towards ensuring our sustainability for years to come.  Let’s crush this campaign and thanks for supporting local news.
