Remember when you were a child, and the holidays approached, and you were hyperventilating with excitement to see your gifts. You looked under beds and in closets to find where your parents were hiding things. You couldn’t wait for the festivities. All the while, your folks were reminding you that during this time it’s better to give than receive. That not everyone is as fortunate as you. To remember the reason for the season. As we get older the message of generosity resonates more and more. Giving is the greatest gift.
Starting July 1, Bucket List Community Cafe begins our Christmas in July fundraising campaign. Our goal is to raise $2000 toward our community journalism. Our friends Ginny Jordan, and John and Mark Warren along with their company, William Blair, are each matching with a gift of $1000 so your contributions up to $2000 will be doubled. We can’t tell you how excited we are that people believe in what we’re doing to build community by sharing our stories.
Bucket List Community Cafe has stubbornly believed that community journalism can be community supported. That this is something you want, and as a community, you’ll get behind it. During the month of July, we are asking you to please contribute something, anything. Nothing is too small. Help us keep this free to the community without paywalls, ads, memberships, and paid subscriptions. We are re-imaging community journalism with you.
Each member of our team has a stocking, and we are asking you to fill our stockings. Please give what you can when our team of multimedia journalists and journalism entrepreneurs come calling. We need to remind you that we are journalism entrepreneurs and not a non-profit. Your gift is not tax-deductible, but if you know of a foundation that wants to contribute to community journalism or maybe only supports non-profits, we are fiscally sponsored by the 501C3 Local Media Foundation, and you can write a check and give to us through them. Contact Vicky at vicky@teletrendstv.com and she’ll tell you more about the collaboration.
All year long we hear people say “We love what you’re doing.” We love what you’re doing to build community by sharing our stories. We love what you’re doing to deliver online community journalism for Denver that helps us get to know our neighbors. We love what you’re doing to mentor university students and help the next generation of aspiring journalists. We love seeing your multimedia journalists at events being brand ambassadors. We love what we’re doing too, and we’re especially grateful we’re doing it with the support of our community. Please give generously during our Christmas in July campaign. Thanks, Bucket Listers.
